GAS WELDING WORK SHEET 1- IDENTIFICATION OF SAFETY EQUIPMENT AND THEIR USE

TOOLS/EQUIPMENT: Main gas welding and cutting equipment, protective wear.

INSTRUCTIONS/PROCEDURE

1.     Ensure that you have all the necessary safety gear meant for protection during gas cutting and welding, this include:

a.     Leggings/leg cover

b.     Arm bands

c.     Clear goggles

d.     Shielding goggles

e.     Apron

f.      Cap

g.     Gloves

2. HOW TO WEAR PROTECTIVE GEAR.

Put on the safety wear as in the order below:

·         Overall or over coat

·         Safety shoes

·         Leggings

·         Apron

·         Arm bands

·         Cap

·         Nose mask

·         Shielding glasses

·         Gloves

NOTE: These are just the basic protective wear in a gas welding shop. However, you may require additional protective wear depending on the nature of the work you need to do.

·         Check that all the cylinders are secured properly by the chains to the stands such that they can not be thrown over easily.

·         Check your working area to ensure that it is well aerated, clean and that there are no materials that can catch fire nearby.
